notesThe TV show Ellen was originally titled These Friends of Mine. To not be confused with the, at that time huge, SitCom Friends, the title was changed. It was notable for being the first American TV show where the main character came out as gay in the episode "Puppy Episode" in 1997. The controversy around this in the Unites States forced the TV channel to have a parental advisory before each episode.
